Almaty – Kapshagai road is ready for 75 percents, it was informed to Tengrinews.kz correspondent by Mr. B. Dadamurzayev, Director of regional branch of “KazAutoZhol” JSC, during road work inspection in Almaty region.

Now construction works at Almaty – Kapshagai road is being held on 3 sections; 63 km of road will be reconstructed under 6-lane road and the remaining 41 km under 4-lane road.

"This year we will put into operation 94 km of road and open traffic to Kapshagai on one side. And the whole project will be put into operation in December 2016. (...) Almaty – Kapshagai road is the road of the highest category and a lot of money is spent on its maintenance. Thus, in order to release budget from this amount, we have decided to make it toll road. This money will go for maintenace and service of the road. The toll system will be implemented in 2017-2018. Overall one km of this road costs about three million USD. Overall Almaty-Kapshagai concrete pavement length is 104 km. All allocated money is from Republican Budget. According to the Standards the overhaul of this road will be carried out in 20 years, told Mr. Ulan Alipov, Deputy Chairman of “KazAutoZhol”.

According to his words today transit pass system for toll road is being worked out. At the beginning stage it can be launched on Astana – Burabai road. The approximate cost of annual transit pass may be about 5 thousand KZT, semi-annual – 3 thousand KZT, and unlimited passing of toll road during one quarter may cost 2 thousand KZT.

It shall be added that Mr. Asset Issekeshev, Minister of Investments and Development visited site inspection of the Almaty-Kapshagai road. He noted that Almaty-Kapshagai will be of good quality.

"It is essential for us to connect all roads of Westren Europe – Westernn China, Almaty – Astana, Almaty – Ust-Kamenogorsk, BACH. All these roads shall be connected correctly so that both to help the transit passengers and at the same time to develop small and medium business. All these are joined in the “Nurly Zhol” program. Now the initiative of our President and China’s Leader “Silk Road Zone” is being coordinated, so we have to do everything by stages so that this transit and logistical center passing through Almaty region and city work properly”, stated Mr. Issekeshev.
