ASTANA. KAZINFORM - A new section of Western Europe - Western China transcontinental highway was put into operation, bypassing the regional center, reports the management of internal policy of the region. Mr. Bekbolat Orynbekov, the first deputy of akim, has congratulated the residents of the region and road engineers at the opening ceremony of the road section.

- As you recall, the construction of the international transport corridor was initiated by the President Nursultan Nazarbayev, - he said. - The highway that connects the East and West, Europe and Asia, is a modern continuation of the Great Silk Road. 20 engineers from South Korea participated in the construction of a new bypass road, more than three thousand workers were employed, and most of whom were from Zhambyl city. I heartily congratulate all of you on the completion of the next stage of a vital project!

It should be noted also that 29 subcontractors participated in the construction, including the Korean company "KCC Engineering Construction". 667 units of equipment were mobilized, domestic construction materials were used.

The total cost of construction amounted to 17 billion tenge.

The length of 65 kilometers, of which 7.7 kilometers is a four-lane road with concrete pavement and 57 kilometers is a two-lane road with asphalt pavement. There are four interchanges, 12 bridges, 131 culverts.

Bypass is equipped by bus stops with pavilions, lay-by and rest areas.

- The section was started from scratch, the base course works were carried out, culverts were installed. Recently there was a heavy rain, but there is no puddle on the road, - says Rustem Mombekov, Safety and environmental Engineer of "KCC Engineeing Construction".

At this section the workers worked two years. Coarse crushed stone laid on the base. Pavement consists of three layers. The first layer is porous and it is necessary so that asphalt can "breathe": leaks and evaporates moisture. The second layer provides strength of the pavement, and the third layer will reduce the degree of skidding on the road in winter. In general, such road pavement withstands the load of heavy trucks.

- 495 km transcontinental road will be reconstructed and put into operation in Zhambyl region. Today we are opening a new bypass road with the length of 65 kilometers, - informed Kairat Karibaev, Director of Zhambyl oblast branch of "KazAvtoZhol" JSC. - We give a guarantee to its qualty, I'm sure it will please all drivers, he said.

The opening of the road should significantly relieve the traffic flow in the regional center. And it will become easier to drive out the city.

The first vehicles have already traveled on the new road right after the opening. It is planned that a network of road service facilities will appear along the Western Europe - Western China international transport corridor which will contribute to the development of the tourism cluster in the region.
