Implementation of the idea for restoration of Great Silk Way – Megaproject “Western Europe – Western China” with total length of 8 445 km was started in 2009. The length of the Corridor throughout the Republic of Kazakhstan is 2 thousand 787 km, China – 3 425 km and Russia – 2 233 km.

At present the works are executed throughout the territory of our Republic for 34 road sections with the length of 1 621 km in Aktobe, Kyzylorda, Zhambyl and South-Kazakhstan regions. Overall 6 thousand units of equipment have been mobilized. During the whole period from the civil works commencement 30 asphalt concrete plants, 24 cement concrete plants and 32 crushers have been put into operation.

Start of operation of the Corridor will give the increase of transit cargo traffic in the directions China – Central Asia, China – Russia – Western Europe by 2015 in 1.5 times or up to 1.2 million tons.

As the carried out analysis shows, with implementation of this project new enterprises have been opened, tens of road-building companies of the country have been provided with the job, more than 35 thousand road builders have been involved.

In perspective about 50 thousand people will be involved in the Project. Completion for construction of the Corridor throughout the territory of the above four regions has been provided by the end of 2013.

Contractors have been determined for construction of road section “Temirlan By-Pass” in South-Kazakhstan Oblast, who started mobilization of equipment, personnel, procurement of materials, i.e. preparation to start construction works.
