Astana. KAZINFORM – Within the framework of “Western Europe - Western China” international transit corridor commodity circulation from China and Central Asia through Kazakhstan to Russia has already increased to twice. Today this has been reported in the Senate of Parliament of the RoK by Mr.Zhenis Kassymbek, the first deputy minister of investments and development of the RK.
“Today we see first results of the work under “Western Europe - Western China” international corridor, commodity circulation, cargo turnover, traffic volume increased totally twice, considering both parties, from China and also from Central Asia into Russia. It is expected that by the end of project implementation a traffic volume on the international corridor will be more than 30 million tons of cargo. These are not Kazakhstani cargoes, but transit”, - pointed out Zh.Kassymbek at the eighth committee meeting on cooperation between Senate of Kazakhstan Parliament and the Federation Council of Russia.
It should be mentioned, that the length of the corridor from harbour LyanJunGan to Saint-Petersburg will be 8 thousand 461 kilometers. 2787 of them go across Kazakhstan. It is planned that the project will provide with cargo transportations in three main directions: China-Kazakhstan (25%), China-Central Asia (35%), China-Kazakhstan-Russia-Western Europe (40%).
It is to be recalled that during implementation period of international corridor construction during 2009-2015 traffic in Kazakhstan was opened from the Russian Federation border to Shymkent, including Aktobe, Kyzylorda, South Kazakhstan and Zhambyl oblasts of total length 2028 km.
For today works are in progress in accordance with work programs by 7 construction companies in Almaty and South Kazakhstan oblasts on sections of “Almaty-Khorghos”, “Shymkent-Tashkent” and “Shymkent-Zhambyl oblast border”.
Within the framework of roadside service development it is planed to creat 60 roadside service complexes, including a full roadside service (camping grounds, motels, FFS, TSS, food services areas and trade areas e.t.c.).
Besides, a development of design estimate documentation commenced on implementation of toll system for vehicular passage, that can considerably reduce loads and provide additional money for corridor operation, reports in MID RoK.
The corridor construction work through Kazakhstan road section is planed to be completed in 2016. In the territory of China construction works at the length of 3 425 km have been already fully implemented.
