In the framework of “Western Europe –Western China’ project implementation until the end of 2016 it is planned to put into operation the first road tunnel with the length of 800 m in South Kazakhstan oblast, reported today Mr. Zhenis Kassymbek, first Vice-Minister of Investments and Development of RoK during the on-site meeting of the Committee on economic reform and regional development, conveys correspondent of BNews.kz.
“Western Europe – Western China” project is the shortest route from China to Europe with the term of cargo transportation within 10-12 days. This road is 3.5 times shorter than traditional sea communication through Suez canal. From the commencement of project implementation the works are completed on roads with the length of 2028 km and traffic is open in sections from Shymkent to the border of Russia with exit to Orenburg and section of Taraz-Atyrau”, explained Mr. Zhenis Kassymbek.
According to his words the budget for 2016 under Western Europe –Western China project made up 134 bln. KZT, currently works are in progress on sections of Almaty – Khorgos – 304 km, Tashkent – Shymkent – 100 km and Shymkent – border of Zhambyl oblast – 81 km.
“Shymkent – border of Zhambyl oblst section is interesting because there is the first Kazakhstan tunnel with the length of 800 m under construction. Till the end of current year we put into operation this section”, noted Vice-Minister.
