Astana. Kazinform – Kazakhstan called on Russia to speed up pace of constrction of sections of Western Europe – Western China International transit corridor from the side of Ufa-Sterlitamak-Orenburg in the direction of Aktobe. This was stated today by Mr. Zhenis Kassymbek, first Vice-Minister of Investments and Development of RoK.
“We know that plan under construction from the side of Ufa-Sterlitamak-Orenburg in the direction of Aktobe is postponed a bit – for 2018-2019. We would like to ask Russian collegues to move these plans and speed up”, refered Mr. Kassymbek to Russian party during the 8th meeting of Commission under cooperation between Senate of the Parliament of Kazakhstan and the Federation Council of Russia.
He recalled that Western Europe – Western China corridor is one of the largest integration projects within the frameworkk of cooperation between Russia and Kazakhstan. It is planned that by the end of project implementation, overall flow of cargo will increase to 2.5 times and will make up about 33 mln.tons per year.
The length of the corridor from Lyanyungan port to St.Petersburg will be 8 thousand km, of which 2787 km will pass through Kazakhstan.
“We have started this project in 2009. As of today almost all road construction works are completed. In particular, it is completed in Aktobe and Kyzylorda oblasts. This year we have two small sections between Almaty and China’s border – about 300 km and two sections between Shymkent and Zhambyl oblast. We plan that in November of current year this road of first and second category will be completed fully with furnishment”, added Mr. Kassymbek.
Moreover, this year according to his words road construction works will be commenced in the direction from Aktobe to Orsk.
“Last year construction of road was commenced from the side of Uralsk in the direction of Saratov, Samara, we plan to commence works to Orenburg. So in all boundary sections we conduct active work under construction and reconstruction of the existing roads”, noted first Vice-Mnister of MID RoK.
It shall be noted that construction works on the territory of China within the framwork of Western Europe –Western China corridor with the length of 3425 km have been implemented already as of today.
The works in Russia have been commenced since 2012. The reconstruction and repair works are being carried out on the following sections of “St.Petersburg – Moscow” with the length of 724 km with completion in 2018; sections between Moscow and Kazan and Shali-Bavly.
The length of corridor throught the territory of Russia is 2493 km under the route of: “St.Petersburg - Moscow - Vladimir - Kazan - Bavly - Orenburg – border of RoK”.
On Kazakhstan section of international corridor 2452 km of road is subject to reconstruction (1391 km from the border of PRC to Kyzylorda under I category and 1061 km from Kyzylorda to border of Russian Federation under II category). The overall cost of project from Kazakhstan side will make up 825 bln. KZT.
