Kazakhstani will be able to travel on credit on open toll roads

Payment after the fact will cost twice as much, “KazAvtoZhol” warned.

An open toll collection system is being introduced on republican roads. For the safety and convenience of drivers, there are no payment posts and barriers in it, and through control arches will fix the passage.

“They will automatically read RFID tags or license plates of passing cars and write off funds from special accounts of vehicle owners. The open system also allows you to ride on credit when the driver has forgotten or is temporarily unable to replenish the account. But payment after the fact will cost twice as much” the statement said.

The open system has a big advantage over the traditional one because it doesn’t delay traffic, but some drivers may be tempted not to pay at all, the company said. “KazAvtoZhol” noted that the measures provided for by law will be applied to persistent non-payers.

“In the absence of payment, information about the debtors will be sent to the Transport Control Inspectorate of the MIID RK for taking action. The fine for individuals is 5 MCI, for legal entities - 10 MCI. At the same time, the law provides that up to 50% of wages can be withheld in court to cover fines,” the company noted.

An open toll collection system will be implemented on all toll roads in the country.
