On August 20^th Minister of Transport and Communications of the RK, Berik Kamaliev arrived in Zhambyl Oblast aiming at familiarization with the progress of Project implementation “Western Europe – Western China” in the region.

Overall 495.3 km are subjected to reconstruction throughout the territory of Zhambyl Oblast within the Project “Western Europe – Western China”.

At present construction works are in progress for six road sections with the length of 263.5 km, where five Contractors are involved: ‘Akmola Kurylys materialdary” LLP, “Kazakhdorstroi” LLP, JV “KSS E &C/Zhambylzholkurylys, JSC “K-Dorstroi”, ZhB JSC “KSS E&C”.

Reconstruction of the road section is implemented by loan of Asian Bank for Development (ABD) and Islamic Bank for Development (IBD).

From the start of project implementation for Zhambyl Oblast about 38 billion KZT have been disbursed (including 13.49 billion for 2011), 43.2 km of bottom layer and 7.3 km of upper layer for asphalt concrete course, 156.8 km have been arranged for cement concrete course.

At present Contractors execute works for repair of 7 bridges, 4 overpasses and 2 interchanges.

10214 people have been involved in the construction works, including 5621 – local residents, 95 people – international staff.

Total amount of the mobilized road-building machinery and equipment is – 1755 units.

For provision of quality control 3 Services of Technological Supervision have been involved, mobile road laboratory has been involved. Stationary and mobile laboratories have been organized for 6 objects by the Contractors.

During his visit Minister Berik Kamaliev has conducted workshops with project managers of the Contractors, mentioning the necessity for timely implementation of work schedules.
