On 7^th of December 2018 a presentation on review of existing specifications and proposed standard specifications for the construction of roads and bridges was held in the office No. 704 of the Transport Tower building of the Ministry of Investments and Development of RoK.

Project Management consultant KazDorNII in associations with Sapa SZ LLP and KHA (hereinafter referred to as the PMC) was the organizer and speaker at the presentation. Kazi Masud Hassan, Team Leader of the PMC, was the moderator and the main speaker at the presentation. Mr. Prithvi Raj Poudel, PMC’s Procurement and Technical Specifications Specialist and Mr. Damir Alimov, PMC’s Construction Specialist, supplemented presentation with their comments and were giving the detailed explanations on the findings of their study of the existing specifications, about shortcomings identified and measures offered for their elimination in future through the uniform standard book of technical specifications covering all issues to avoid during construction of road and bridges.

Representatives of government agencies, engineering services, design institutes, Contractors, regional road laboratories, project management consultants and “KazAutoZhol” NC” JSC were invited to the presentation to discuss issues regarding the proposed standard specifications.

During the discussion of the presentation, a number of questions were asked, which were immediately answered by the PMC. Representatives of Kazdorproject LLP, JSC NC KazAutoZhol, PMC Renardet, Kazakhdorstroi LLP, and PII Kazdorproject participated very actively. All questions asked have been related to the list of new specifications proposed, for example sections for concrete works, temporary land acquisition and so forth.

After discussing all the issues that arose during the presentation, there was a coffee break. Following the coffee break, some detailed explanations were made on the various contents of the proposed “Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge construction”. In addition to that, Mr. Hasan has also mentioned to the participants that a full detailed specifications review report of the presentation along with some sections of the proposed specifications will be submitted to the Committee for Roads on 21.12.2018.
