Dear Bakhytzhan, Committee for Roads of the Ministry of Transport and Communications of the Republic of Kazakhstan, having studied the situation, you described regarding encroachment of local staff’s rights by company “Akkord/Okan”, working at the road sections of Kyzylorda Oblast within Project “Western Europe – Western China”, informs as follows. During the period from March to December 2011 the number of Kazakhstan personnel, working for the above Contractor, has accounted for 1000 people.
All of them have been provided with free catering, overalls and means of individual protection. The staff, which came from other regions of the republic, has been provided with free accommodation and three meals a day. First-aid posts work at the sites. Contracts for insurance have been signed. Salary is paid in time by monthly transfer to individual cards of payment. It should be noted that matters of observance labour and everyday life conditions, as well as timely payment for labor are on special control of the Committee for Roads.
